I understand this is a controversial book. I urge you however to openly and objectively read it! This book came recommended by a family memeber who raised 4 of the most respectful, caring, and loving children. I was overwhelmed with two small children and KNEW I needed help. So 12 years ago I read this book and trained my two small children. They are now 13 and 15, they honor me, respect me, trust me, and most importantly Obey me! They know I have proven myself to be trustworthy, respectable, honorable, and a heart submitted to the Lord.Even if you are NOT a christian the principles and techniques in this book are incredibly valuable.I went on to have 2 more children whom I didn't train because of a marriage falling apart and trying to get my life on track. My 8 year old son was getting into trouble at school several days a week, was a sneaky liar, and I quite honestly started to believe had "something wrong with him" meaning I felt like medication was the only option left. I was emotionally drianed, yelling and angry spanking. I was at my WiTS END...I cried at least once a week because I KNEW my son had a sweetheart, I knew he had a good heart, I couldn't understand why he was so rebellious.I re purchased the book, reread it, and started retraining..I can proudly say he is thriving at school now, obeys me the first time I ask him to do something, I haven't cried in months, yelled in months, angrily spanked, and best of all He is snuggling me right now as I type this! His LOVE for me is real and not because he fears me but because He respects me.His brothers and sisters are thanking me for saving thier brother.This book reminded me I am not expecting enough out of my kids, I mean Laura Ingalls was 8 and left at home alone for days to take care of the farm..(I wouldn't recommend doing that btw but I hope you get my point) Hello folks we are enabling an entire generation of self absorbed, unprepared, and Emotionally immature children. As a swim lesson teacher who works with a LOT of families, and trust me our culture NEEDS this book!I see kids 3 and 4 year olds running parents ragged and basically training their parents to serve them and not the other way around... Guess who is ultimately held responsible?I did get annoyed a few times because he gets political, however I know in our culture of people being easily offended, if you can openly read this book it will change your life. Its changed mine twice!
I am a Christian and a mother who wants to raise my children to be productive members of society and also to love the Lord. This book presents the exact opposite way of doing that. I was given this book when my daughter was a baby and I couldn’t even finish it. I have since, and it appalls me that this is touted as a book of Christian principals. The tactics are cruel, humiliating, and downright harmful. DO NOT BUY THIS. There are so many other books and authors that can help you!
Horrifying read. Only sifted through before deciding to burn this. Do not purchase this. Appalled anyone highly rated this, and more applauded a “friend†suggested this to me.
I was raised on the teachings of this book and it has devastated me as I have tried for the past several years to correct the psychological damage it has caused. If you want a healthy, happy child and not just a damaged robot, avoid this book.
I would highly suggest researching this book and the Pearls before buying it. It can be extremely harmful to children and families if the guidelines presented in the book are followed. I'm not quite sure how Amazon is even still selling it, to be honest.
You can no longer buy a Confederate flag on Amazon, but nice to know you can still buy how-to-manual on child abuse.
So thankful we found this book! Every single person should read this before becoming a parent! Definitely recommending to all of our friends and family! Thank you!!!
Amazing book with wonderful, practical knowledge and wisdom on how to effectively train a child. My daughter is actually happier now that I am consistant with her, and she is a joy to be around! My favorite thing is how they deeply concentrate on the child's mental and emotional well-being!I love this book, and will be using it and their other books for all of my children.
