Absolutely adore this book! We have been doing Poetry Teatime in our all-boy homeschool now for a few months after watching Julie's inspiring Periscope broadcasts. I always loved poetry but never dreamed my boys would be interested. It has become the highlight of our week-and we will continue through the summer. Super excited to find this resource to guide our poetry learning. Layout is easy to navigate. Images are gorgeous. The additional information about each poet will enhance our discussions. Extremely glad we purchased this for use in our homeschool. A new treasure for our family library!
This is a beautiful book! I do wish there was a little more to it, but we will still use and enjoy it.I think the binding could be better also. We received the book, opened it, and two pages fell out. I would think for the price it would be a little better quality.
My kids and I LOVE this book! We try to do Poetry Time weekly and even my 3 year old likes to get involved in our discussion. Teaching poetry to my 16 year old son was like pulling teeth until food was involved!! The book has a beautiful selection of poetry and awesome discussion questions to get the conversation started, just bring the tea and cookies!
I really appreciate the poem choices and the little blurbs about each one. It makes me feel like we are bringing more depth and history to our poetry tea times since most of what we read right now are Eric Carl's animals animals and mother goose and poems of our own creation! The poems are a wide range of choices by different authors, times in history, and so forth. If one strikes your fancy it would then be easier to know what author or style to search for and find more. The watercolor paintings through out are amazing! And those along with the blurbs about the poems and guided questions and such make this very worth the purchase in my eyes. I bought one for my sister in law as well who watercolor paints and did a poetry group with me when we were young. Now we both homeschool and do our own poetry tea times!
This book is the perfect compliment to a big pot of tea and some delicious treats. We are especially enjoying the bit of background surrounding each poem. It's a great way to engage kids of all ages (mine range from 0-13). This book is a worthwhile addition to our poetry collection.
Not a good source for poetry and tea time. Boring and visually unappealing. We preferred “Nature poetry†by National Geographic.
We love using this resource for our poetry tea time. Not only are the poems classics and the paintings beautiful but I appreciate the conversation starters at the bottom of the page.
A wonderful way to enjoy poetry with your children. Poetry Teatime has enhanced our homeschool so much. Beautiful book and artwork.
